Knitting kit for Melange Sweater by Petiteknit in Önling No 15

Melange Sweater from PetiteKnit is a classic sweater with an interesting color effect. It is knitted from the top down - here in two strands of Önling No 15, which is a classic thin merino wool. We recommend that you choose two contrast colors to achieve the best melange effect.

Start by knitting a swatch to determine which size needle gives you the correct gauge.

The yarn kit contains:  Yarn for the elected size and a printed pattern.

Size guide
The Melange Sweater is designed to have approx. 15-20 cm [6-8 inches] of positive ease, meaning it is designed to be approx. 15-20 cm [6-8 inches] larger in circumference than your bust measurement. A size S sweater has a bust circumference of 110 cm [43¼ inches] which in the given example would give you 20 cm [7¾ inches] of positive ease.

Sizes: XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL
Bust circumference: 106 (110) 114 (118) 126 (136) 144 (150) 160 cm [41¾ (43¼) 45 (46½) 49½ (53½) 56¾ (59) 63 inches]
Length: 59 (59) 60 (61) 62 (63) 64 (65) 66 cm [23¼ (23¼) 23½ (24) 24½ (24¾) 25¼ (25½) 26 inches] measured mid back excl. neck edge

Materials:
This kit does not contain the original yarn used by PetiteKnit, but carefully selected yarn that matches the gauge:

Önling No 15, 100% Merino wool. 50 g = approx. 175 m
Col. A: 300(350)350(350)400(450)450(500)500 g
Col. B: 300(350)350(350)400(450)450(500)500 g

Gauge: 20 sts x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] in stockinette stitch on 4 mm [US6] needles

Needles: Circular needles: 4 mm [US6] / 40, 80 and/or 100 cm [16, 32 and/or 40 inches] and 3.5 mm [US4] / 40 cm [16 inches]
Double-pointed needles 3.5 mm [US4] and 4 mm [US6] (unless the Magic Loop technique is used)

Procedure:
The Melange Sweater is worked from the top down. First, the back yoke is worked back and forth in stockinette stitch, while the slope of the shoulders is created using short rows. At the bottom of the back yoke, increases are worked to shape the armholes. After this, each shoulder is worked back and forth separately towards the front on circular needles, and then the two shoulders are joined to form the front yoke. Back and front yokes are joined at the bottom of the armholes to form the body, which is worked in the round on the circular needles. The sleeves are worked from stitches that are picked up and knitted along the armholes. The sleeves are worked in the round on circular needles or on double-pointed needles or using the Magic Loop technique. At the end, a neck rib edge is worked from stitches that are picked up and knitted around the neck opening. The neck rib edge is then folded double and knitted together.

Please Note:
The price of the yarn kit is calculated based on the amount of yarn included, which is the amount we have used to knit the design according to the above measurements. Should you need more yarn, additional yarn can be purchased at regular prices by placing an order and state lot number in the comment box at checkout. All designs have been thoroughly calculated and tested.

This knitting kit contains yarn and a printed pattern, which you will receive physically with your yarn. The pattern is NOT digital.

ABOUT PATTERNS FROM ÖNLING

In 95% of all kits from Önling, you get a digital pattern and yarn when you buy a kit. Read more about how to get hold of your digital knitting pattern here.

In very few cases, however, we provide a printed pattern rather than a digital one:

- When you buy a kit for ALL designs from PetiteKnit's, you will receive a printed, pattern together with your yarn, as we are unfortunately not allowed to sell Petite Knits' patterns digitally.

- When you buy a kit for a design from selected books (e.g. Helga Isager), you sometimes have to buy the book separately, in cases where the patterns are not released to be sold separately. It will always be clearly described in the product title, with for example "xx kit, excluding pattern", when the pattern is not included.

- All patterns from Isager are delivered as a printed pattern, as we do not have access to sell these digitally. You will receive your pattern along with your yarn shipment.

Wool can last for years, but it requires good care. Washing is tough on your woolen garments and in general wool needs to be washed much less than other materials as it has a self-cleaning effect.
