Summer Knits for Warm Days – Our Best Yarn Picks for the Season
When the sun is high and the days get longer, our knitting pace changes. We swap out the warm winter yarns for lighter, airy fibers and reach for patterns that suit the brighter wardrobe and milder weather. At Önling, we love knitting year-round – and we love when the yarn matches the season. That’s why we’ve gathered our summer favorites: four beautiful yarns that are perfect for light tops, blouses, and summer sweaters.
Önling No 14 – Soft Luxury in 100% Lyocell
If you haven’t already tried lyocell, you’re in for a treat. Lyocell used in Önling No 14 is made from 100% regenerated cellulose fibers sourced from forestry. No synthetic fibers are used.
No 14 feels almost like silk between your fingers. It drapes beautifully, has a subtle sheen, and cools gently against the skin – perfect for summer tops or airy t-shirts. It’s also strong and durable, so you’ll enjoy it for many summers to come.

Önling No 21 – A Classic and Rustic Blend of Cotton and Linen
Önling No 21 is what we would call a true summer classic. It’s made from 60% cotton and 40% linen – two natural fibers that both breathe well and feel light against the skin. Cotton is loved for its softness, while linen adds strength, structure, and a cool touch.
This combination makes No 21 ideal for summer knitting, especially for designs with texture or lace patterns. The yarn has a natural matte finish and a light rustic surface, but still feels soft against the skin – giving your finished projects both character and a true summer feel. Önling No 12 and No 13 – Our Everyday Favorites with Summer Potential Although No 12 and No 13 are often called our “everyday kit,” they actually work surprisingly well for summer knitting – especially if you want something a bit warmer without it being too heavy. Önling No 12 is spun from 55% wool and 45% cotton, and the fine balance between the warmer wool and soft cotton makes it a versatile yarn. It has a natural structure, making it both beautiful and relaxed in appearance. Önling No 13 is often used as a companion yarn to No 12 – it creates a beautiful color play and subtle melange, while adding extra hold and structure to No 12. It’s a little luxury upgrade, especially felt in the soft sensation from No 13’s touch of cashmere. The yarn combination is perfect for summer – especially for lightweight sweaters you can throw over your shoulders as the sun sets.
