Knitting kit for Idun socks in Önling No 18, sock yarn
Idun is a sock featuring a lovely lace pattern that runs along each side of the sock on the entire upper side. The sock has a well-fitting shadow wrap heel that is incredibly easy to knit. The Idun sock is constructed in such a way that you can choose to knit a gusset for extra room around the heel.
We have knitted the sock using our soft and durable Önling No 18, which is made from 75% non-superwash wool and 25% recycled PET (plastic) bottles
This kit contains: 100 gr of Önling No 18 and a digital pattern.
The pattern is a PDF file. Immediately after purchase you will be able to download the pattern directly from the purchase confirmation page. You will also receive an e-mail with a link to your pattern, and the pattern will be available here at the site via your personal account - so remember to create an account :-) Read more about digital knitting patterns here.

Recommended needles: You need double-pointed needles or a circular needle size 2,5 mm / US 1.5 in 6
The sizes can be adjusted by knitting according to the stitch count for size small if you have narrow feet and knit them to your desired length. Conversely, you can knit according to the stitch count for size L if you have wide feet
Gauge: 32 sts x 47 r on needle 2,5 mm (US 1.5) = 10 x 10 cm
Procedure: Idun is knitted from the cuff, down over the heel and foot, and finishes with a rounded toe. The sock is worked on a circular needle using the magic loop method, but you can, of course, use double-pointed needles if you prefer.
A sock with a shadow wrap heel consists of the following sections: ribbed cuff, leg, first and second half of the heel, which are worked with twin and triple stitches, foot, and toe. For additional room around the heel, you can choose to knit a small gusset before working the heel. These stitches are decreased again after the heel. Idun sock is knitted as both a right and a left sock
Please note: The price of the yarn kit is calculated based on the amount of yarn included, which is the amount we have used to knit the design according to the above measurements. Should you need more yarn, additional yarn can be purchased at regular prices by placing an order and state lot number in the comment box at checkout. All designs have been thoroughly calculated and tested.
ABOUT PATTERNS FROM ÖNLING
In 95% of all kits from Önling, you get a digital pattern and yarn when you buy a kit. Read more about how to get hold of your digital knitting pattern here.
In very few cases, however, we provide a printed pattern rather than a digital one:
- When you buy a kit for ALL designs from PetiteKnit's, you will receive a printed, pattern together with your yarn, as we are unfortunately not allowed to sell Petite Knits' patterns digitally.
- When you buy a kit for a design from selected books (e.g. Helga Isager), you sometimes have to buy the book separately, in cases where the patterns are not released to be sold separately. It will always be clearly described in the product title, with for example "xx kit, excluding pattern", when the pattern is not included.
- All patterns from Isager are delivered as a printed pattern, as we do not have access to sell these digitally. You will receive your pattern along with your yarn shipment.
Wool can last for years, but it requires good care. Washing is tough on your woolen garments and in general wool needs to be washed much less than other materials as it has a self-cleaning effect.
