Snowed in - A greeting from the sunny island
When you work at Önling and live on Bornholm, a snowstorm and advise against non-essential travel means nothing – I work from home and have enough yarn!
As part of the Önling family, my job is to catch Katrine’s creative ideas and transform them into something you can knit with your own hands… Into something warm, soft, luxurious and sustainable – something we can enjoy during these cold days, regardless of weather, job, age or abilities.

This week, I’m snowed in on Bornholm, but we have 60/60 fiber and lots of wood, so there’s nothing that stops me from working. And the beautiful nature outside the windows here in Poulsker, makes creativity flow and the love for our warm wool, alpaca, and mink yarn grow.
Don’t you feel isolated from Önling and your colleagues over there in coastal Denmark?
No – via Skype and FaceTime, they’re never far away. We are having weekly creative meetings and often talk about design, style, structure and those elements our Önling models are to contain. And I must say that after 3 days of intense and inventive meetings at HQ in Søborg, it’s quite nice to come home and snow in for a while. The loudest noise is the snowplow, keeping the roads open until around 5PM and then it’s goodnight Bornholm – we advise you to avoid all travel. Grab your needles, light the fireplace and let the wool warm you up again.

So, this was a greeting from Önling’s department on Bornholm, where I in future blogposts will reveal some of our creative ideas. Maybe there’s a new shawl called Skagerak on its way…
