PetiteKnit has designed the lovely, timeless Maggie cardigan. A classic go-to cardigan that goes well with all outfits, and looks fantastic with both a skirt or a pair of jeans. 

Here we knit Maggie cardigan in Önling No 2, our delicate and ekstra soft 100% Merino Superfine Super 100s Wool.

Size guide
The Maggie Cardigan is designed to have approx. 5 cm [2 inches] of positive ease, meaning it is designed to be approx. 5 cm [2 inches] larger in circumference than your bust measurement. The sizes XXS (XS) S (M) L (XL) 2XL (3XL) 4XL (5XL) are designed to fit a bust circumference of 75-80 (80-85) 85-90 (90-95) 95-100 (100-110) 110-120 (120-130) 130-140 (140-150) cm [29½-31½ (31½-33½) 33½-35½ (35½-37½) 37½-39½ (39½-43¼) 43¼-47¼ (47¼-51¼) 51¼-55 (55-59) inches]. The measurements for the finished sweater can be found on the front page of the pattern. Please note that these measurements can only be achieved if the correct gauge is maintained throughout. Measure yourself before beginning your project, to determine which size will fit you the best. For example, if you measure 90 cm [35½ inches] around your bust (or around the widest part of your upper body) you should knit a size S. A size S sweater has a bust circumference of 96 cm [37¾ inches] which in the given example would give you 6 cm [2¼ inches] of positive ease.

Gauge: 23 sts x 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] in stockinette stitch on 3.5 mm [US4] needles

Needles 
Circular needles: 3.5 mm [US4] / 60, 80 and/or 100 cm [24, 32 and/or 40 inches]
3 mm [US2½] / 60, 80 and/or 100 cm [24, 32 and/or 40 inches]
Double-pointed needles: 3.5 mm [US4] and 3 mm [US2½] (unless the Magic Loop technique is used)

Procedure
The Maggie Cardigan is worked from the top down. First, the back yoke is worked flat, back and forth, shaped with increases. Then each shoulder is worked separately, from stitches that are picked up and knitted along the top of the back yoke. Stitches are then picked up and knitted along the shoulders, and the rest of the yoke and the body is worked back and forth on the circular needle. The sleeves are worked in the round on double-pointed needles or on a long circular needle using the Magic Loop technique. At the end, plackets are worked along the front edges and along the neck.

Begin by working a swatch to determine which needle size you need to achieve the correct gauge. Wash and block the swatch before taking any measurements.

ABOUT PATTERNS FROM ÖNLING

In 95% of all kits from Önling, you get a digital pattern and yarn when you buy a knitting kit. Read more about how to get hold of your digital knitting pattern here.

In some cases, however, you will not receive a pattern as part of your order:

If you buy a Yarn kit, you will only receive yarn for the design in question. Yarn kits are only sold for selected designs from external designers, where we do not have the right to sell the pattern. When a kit is sold without pattern, you can always see it in the header, which will say (excl pattern) in the header.

In very few cases, however, we provide a printed pattern rather than a digital one:

- For a select, few designs from PetiteKnit, we will add a printed pattern to the parcel - but for most PetiteKnit designs, you will not receive a pattern, as they are mainly sold as yarn kits (excl pattern). In these cases you will always be able to see it in the header, where it says (excl pattern).

Wool can last for years, but it requires good care. Washing is tough on your woolen garments and in general wool needs to be washed much less than other materials as it has a self-cleaning effect.
