Knitting kit for Elvira Mittens with cables in Önling No 2
We’ve designed a pair of lovely mittens featuring beautiful cables. The mittens are knitted in our own luxurious merino wool, Önling No 2, resulting in a light and soft pair of mittens.
We were inspired by the beautiful Aran sweaters and all their intricate patterns, and have created two charming cable designs: one with cables in various sizes, and another with a “mock cable” that’s knitted without a cable needle. The mittens can be made in many variations and make a perfect, thoughtful gift.

Procedure
The mittens are worked in the round from the wrist upwards. You start with a rib cuff and continue in stockinette, with many cables on the back of the hand, straight stockinette on the palm, and ‘false cables’ on the thumb. Stitches are set aside for the thumb before finishing the mitten. The ‘false cables’ on the palm side are continued on the thumb. Finally, the thumb stitches are picked up again, and the thumb is worked.
Please Note:
The price of the yarn kit is calculated based on the amount of yarn included, which is the amount we have used to knit the design according to the above measurements. Should you need more yarn, additional yarn can be purchased at regular prices by placing an order and state lot number in the comment box at checkout. All designs have been thoroughly calculated and tested.
ABOUT PATTERNS FROM ÖNLING
In 95% of all kits from Önling, you get a digital pattern and yarn when you buy a knitting kit. Read more about how to get hold of your digital knitting pattern here.
In some cases, however, you will not receive a pattern as part of your order:
If you buy a Yarn kit, you will only receive yarn for the design in question. Yarn kits are only sold for selected designs from external designers, where we do not have the right to sell the pattern. When a kit is sold without pattern, you can always see it in the header, which will say (excl pattern) in the header.
In very few cases, however, we provide a printed pattern rather than a digital one:
- For a select, few designs from PetiteKnit, we will add a printed pattern to the parcel - but for most PetiteKnit designs, you will not receive a pattern, as they are mainly sold as yarn kits (excl pattern). In these cases you will always be able to see it in the header, where it says (excl pattern).
Wool can last for years, but it requires good care. Washing is tough on your woolen garments and in general wool needs to be washed much less than other materials as it has a self-cleaning effect.
