Yarn kit for STRUCTURE LOOP SWEATER by Other Loops in Önling No 1
Structure Loop Sweater is a beautiful, oversized sweater with stripes in structured knitting across the body and sleeves. On the shoulder you'll find a rib detail, which continues along the armhole and down as a panel along the side of the body.
The sweater is designed by talented Maja Kløvdal aka @otherloops and here we knit it in Önling No 1 (angora and merino) for a perfectly soft and joyful result.
You can also knit in our alternative kit with 1 thread No 20 (shetland wool) and 1 thread No 10 (silk mohair) held together for a warmer sweater with a more rustic look, yet with the softness of the silk mohair.

Recommended needle sizes:
4 mm circular needles (40 and 80 and/or 100 cm)
3,5 mm circular needles (80 and/or 100 cm) or double-pointed needles in the same size, if you don't want to knit Magic Loop
Gauge: 19 sts x 32 rows in structured knitting on needle size 4 mm = 10 x 10 cm
Follow the diagramme for the structured stripes when you knit your swatch. The gauge is very important - especially the height, as several measurements in the pattern is described as a number of rows.
If you do not match the gauge in terms of number of rows, we recommend you try to switch to needles in another material.
Knitting process:
The sweater is worked from the top down. Stitches are cast on for the back of the neck and then worked with rib stitch in both sides, and at the same time increases are worked to form the top part of the back panel. Then stitches are picked up along the edge of the shoulders, and the shoulders are worked individually back and forth. Stitches are then cast on to join the 2 shoulders into the front panel. The front and back panels are joined, and the body is worked in the round on a circular needle. The body is finished by a bottom rib hem. The sleeve stitches are picked up from the armhole, and the sleeves are worked in the round and finished by a rib stitch cuff. Finally, stitches are picked up from the neck opening and worked in rib stitch. The rib stitch neck hem is folded double and knitted down.
The structured stripes on the sweater start on the back and front panels and continue down the body and the sleeves. Follow the placing and the chart for the stripes as described in the pattern below.
Please Note:
The price of the yarn kit is calculated based on the amount of yarn included, which is the amount we have used to knit the design according to the above measurements. Should you need more yarn, additional yarn can be purchased at regular prices by placing an order and state LOT number in the comment box at checkout. All designs have been thoroughly calculated and tested.
ABOUT PATTERNS FROM ÖNLING
In 95% of all kits from Önling, you get a digital pattern and yarn when you buy a kit. Read more about how to get hold of your digital knitting pattern here.
In very few cases, however, we provide a printed pattern rather than a digital one:
- When you buy a kit for ALL designs from PetiteKnit's, you will receive a printed, pattern together with your yarn, as we are unfortunately not allowed to sell Petite Knits' patterns digitally.
- When you buy a kit for a design from selected books (e.g. Helga Isager), you sometimes have to buy the book separately, in cases where the patterns are not released to be sold separately. It will always be clearly described in the product title, with for example "xx kit, excluding pattern", when the pattern is not included.
- All patterns from Isager are delivered as a printed pattern, as we do not have access to sell these digitally. You will receive your pattern along with your yarn shipment.
Wool can last for years, but it requires good care. Washing is tough on your woolen garments and in general wool needs to be washed much less than other materials as it has a self-cleaning effect.
