Knitting kit for November Balaclava by PetiteKnit.
The November Balaclava is worked from the top down in fisherman’s rib. First, a square is worked for the top of the head. Then stitches are picked up and knitted along the sides of the square and the balaclava is worked back and forth to under the chin, where it is joined in the round. At the end, a rib edge is worked around the face opening.
The balaclava has a feminine fit, as it covers the ears, but not the forehead or sides of the face. Note that the measurements given for the finished balaclava are for after it has been washed. The hat should be washed before wearing as the fisherman’s rib grows giving the hat the correct size.
NOTE! Begin by working a swatch to determine which needle size you need to achieve the correct gauge. Wash and block the swatch before taking any measurements.
The knitting kit contains: Yarn for the elected size and a printed pattern, which you'll receive physically with your yarn.
Sizes: S/M (L/XL)
Fits head circumference: 54-58 (58-61) cm [21¼-22¾ (22¾-24) inches]
Width of hat: 18 (20) cm [7 (8) inches] (measured with the hat lying flat on its side)
Materials:
This kit does not contain the original yarn used by PetiteKnit, but carefully selected yarn that matches the gauge.
50(50) g Önling No 1, 75% Merino Superfine Super 100s Wool and 25% Angora, 50 g = approximately 180m

Gauge: 16 sts x 36 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] in fisherman’s rib on 4.5 mm [US7] needles before washing; the equivalent of 14 sts x 36 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] in fisherman’s rib on 4.5 mm [US7] needles after washing, as fisherman’s rib grows with washing and wear (note that 36 rows in fisherman’s rib are counted as 18 knit sts).
Worked with one thread No 1 and two threads No 10 Silk Mohair throughout.
Suggested needles: Circular ndls 4,5 mm (40 cm and 60 cm)
Please Note:
The price of the yarn kit is calculated based on the amount of yarn included, which is the amount we have used to knit the design according to the above measurements. Should you need more yarn, additional yarn can be purchased at regular prices by placing an order and state lot number in the comment box at checkout. All designs have been thoroughly calculated and tested.

ABOUT PATTERNS FROM ÖNLING
In 95% of all kits from Önling, you get a digital pattern and yarn when you buy a kit. Read more about how to get hold of your digital knitting pattern here.
In very few cases, however, we provide a printed pattern rather than a digital one:
- When you buy a kit for ALL designs from PetiteKnit's, you will receive a printed, pattern together with your yarn, as we are unfortunately not allowed to sell Petite Knits' patterns digitally.
- When you buy a kit for a design from selected books (e.g. Helga Isager), you sometimes have to buy the book separately, in cases where the patterns are not released to be sold separately. It will always be clearly described in the product title, with for example "xx kit, excluding pattern", when the pattern is not included.
- All patterns from Isager are delivered as a printed pattern, as we do not have access to sell these digitally. You will receive your pattern along with your yarn shipment.
Wool can last for years, but it requires good care. Washing is tough on your woolen garments and in general wool needs to be washed much less than other materials as it has a self-cleaning effect.
