Knitting kit for Lyon Sweater by PetiteKnit in Önling No 1

Lyon is a pretty and trendy transitional sweater which everyone deserves to have in their wardrobe with stripes. The stripes give it a pretty, maritime and classic look. Here we work it in Önling No 1 (75% merino wool and 25% angora) for a soft, warm and fluffy result.

The yarn kit contains:  Yarn for the elected size and a printed pattern.

The sweater in the pictures on this page is NOT worked in Önling yarns (pictures are designer's own).

Size guide:
The Lyon Sweater is designed to have approx. 20 cm [7¾ inches] of positive ease, meaning it is designed to be approx. 5 cm [2 inches] larger in circumference than your bust measurement in the smallest sizes but progressively less in the larger sizes. The sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL are designed to fit a bust circumference of 80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100) 100-110 (110-120) 120-130 (130-140) 140-150 cm [31½-33½ (33½-35½) 35½-37½ (37½-39½) 39½-43¼ (43¼-47¼) 47¼-51¼ (51¼-55) 55-59 inches]. A size S sweater has a bust circumference of 108 cm [42½ inches] which in the given example would give you 18 cm [7 inches] of positive ease.

Needles: Circular needles: 4 mm [US6] / 80 and/or 100 cm [32 and/or 40 inches], 3.5 mm [US4] / 60 and/or 80 cm [16, 32 and/or 40 inches], and 3 mm [US2.5] 40 cm [16 inches]; Double-pointed needles: 4 mm [US6] and 3.5 mm [US4] (unless you use the Magic Loop technique)

Procedure:
The Lyon Sweater is worked from the top down. First the top part of the back yoke is worked with increases, then the shoulders are worked from stitches that are picked up and knitted along the slanting sides at the back yoke. Stitches are then picked up and knitted along the sides of the shoulders and the rest of the yoke is worked together on the circular needle, first back and forth and then in the round. The body is worked in the round on a circular needle, and the sleeves are worked in the round on double-pointed needles or on a circular needle using the Magic Loop technique. At the end a folded neck edge with built in double knitting is worked. The Lyon Sweater is worked with stripes, the placements of which are described in the pattern.

ABOUT PATTERNS FROM ÖNLING

In 95% of all kits from Önling, you get a digital pattern and yarn when you buy a kit. Read more about how to get hold of your digital knitting pattern here.

In very few cases, however, we provide a printed pattern rather than a digital one:

- When you buy a kit for ALL designs from PetiteKnit's, you will receive a printed, pattern together with your yarn, as we are unfortunately not allowed to sell Petite Knits' patterns digitally.

- When you buy a kit for a design from selected books (e.g. Helga Isager), you sometimes have to buy the book separately, in cases where the patterns are not released to be sold separately. It will always be clearly described in the product title, with for example "xx kit, excluding pattern", when the pattern is not included.

- All patterns from Isager are delivered as a printed pattern, as we do not have access to sell these digitally. You will receive your pattern along with your yarn shipment.

Wool can last for years, but it requires good care. Washing is tough on your woolen garments and in general wool needs to be washed much less than other materials as it has a self-cleaning effect.

Önling is born with slow fashion at heart

When it comes to clothing, a long life is a good life. We have spun that philosophy into our products and designs. We want you to be able to create clothes in our yarns, that you'll want to wear until they are worn out. That requires quality. Quality in the materials, in the design and not least in the possibility for recycling and scrap usage.
