Here is a wonderfully soft and warm beanie featuring a beautiful braided cable along the lower edge, keeping your ears nice and warm. The cable adds a charming detail inspired by the old cable-knitting traditions of the Aran Islands. The beanie is knitted in one strand of Önling No 1 to ensure a delightfully soft and cozy result.

Length: 26 cm / 10.25 inches

Materials Önling No 1
50 g / 1 ball Önling No 1, 75% merino wool, 25% angora, 50 g = approx. 197 yards (180 meters), weight: DK / Worsted
Worked with one strand Önling No 1 throughout.
Recommended circular needle size 4,5 and 5 mm / US 7 and 8

Gauge 18 sts og 28 rows in stockinette stitch on needle size 4,5 mm / US 7 = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inches
Procedure
First, the braid (cable) is knitted as a long strip, which is then bound off and sewn together to form a ring. Next, stitches are picked up along one edge of the braid from the right side, the work is turned, and stockinette stitch is worked in the round from the wrong side. Finally, the beanie is turned inside out, as the wrong side becomes the right side.

If you buy a Yarn kit, you will only receive yarn for the design in question. Yarn kits are only sold for selected designs from external designers, where we do not have the right to sell the pattern. When a kit is sold without pattern, you can always see it in the header, which will say (excl pattern) in the header.
In very few cases, however, we provide a printed pattern rather than a digital one:
- For a select, few designs from PetiteKnit, we will add a printed pattern to the parcel - but for most PetiteKnit designs, you will not receive a pattern, as they are mainly sold as yarn kits (excl pattern). In these cases you will always be able to see it in the header, where it says (excl pattern).
Wool can last for years, but it requires good care. Washing is tough on your woolen garments and in general wool needs to be washed much less than other materials as it has a self-cleaning effect.
