Knitting kit for Iridia sweater in Önling No 12 + Önling No 20
Iridia means colorful - and that's exactly what this pretty sweater is. Iridia is worked with 3 strands of yarn and the pattern explains how compose the nice color fades by alternating colors of the 3 strands of yarn.
The sweater is slightly oversized with a nice shoulder detail for a great fit. The model is knitted bottom down with german short rows for shaping and a draping back line at the bottom ribbing.
The yarn kit contains Önling No 12 and Önling No 20, which are the basic colours for the Iridia Sweater. The 3rd strand of yarn is a silk-mohair, which is not included in the yarn kit. Find your yarn stash, get all the best colors of silk-mohair out and knit your own personal sweater.
You can choose between different colour combinations:
- the green kit (model)
- the red kit
- the blue kit
Take a look in your yarn basket and find the color kit that matches your silk-mohair scraps.
Color choice and amount of silk-mohair
To complete the yarn for Iridia sweater you need a minimum of (90)94(98)104(108)114(122) grams of silk-mohair. For the green kit we recommend green/blue/golden/light color of silk-mohair, for the red kit choose red/purple/pink/golden/orange/light colors and for the blue we recommend blue/petrol/purple/green/light scraps of silk-mohair.
To get a good result you should have at least 5 colors of silk-mohair to go with your Iridia yarn kit - and to achieve a nice, deep color play 10-15 colors are recommended. Scraps can be as small as 15-25 meters.
If you want to order extra silk-mohair...
If you run short on silk-mohair scraps you can supplement your stash with Önling no 10. We recommend the following silk-mohair colors for each kit:
- Green kit: Off-white (80), Light grey (8463), Light army (5898), Turquiose (2425) and Dark petrol (0870)
- Red kit Grey beige (0664), Light rose (2475), Warm beige (5875), Dark rose (6026) og Red wine (5025)
- Blue kit Grey beige (0664), Light rose (2475), Warm beige (5875), Cobalt blue (2911) og Thunder grey (1665)
Order 1 ball in each color.

This yarn kit contains: Önling No 12 and Önling No 20 in selected colors (green, red or blue kit), for the elected size and a digital pattern. Silk-mohair is not included.
Knitting process
The sweater is knitted top-down in the round with a crocheted, provisional cast-on and German short rows for a nice neck shaping. The top of the sweater is shaped with raglan increases, the body and sleeves are separated and the body finishes with German short rows to create a slightly drooped back. Sleeves are knitted in the round.
You can easily regulate length of body and sleeves.

Wool can last for years, but it requires good care. Washing is tough on your woolen garments and in general wool needs to be washed much less than other materials as it has a self-cleaning effect.
