  • The yarn is Önling No 20 - a 100% Shetland Wool yarn
  • You can choose your favorit colour combination from 12 different kits. Please be aware each kit is limited in number
  • The sweater is knitted on needle size 2,5 mm / US 1.5 and 3 mm / US 2.5 . Knitting needles are not included in the gifts.

Some gifts are specially produced for the Advent calendar and will not be released until 2023.

Colours: 12 beautiful Danish yarn kits with yarn from Scotland

12 beautiful yarn kits have been curated with inspiration from Danish towns and landscapes. You'll find the moors in Jutland in #4 Viborg, the apple orchards of Funen in n#5 Bogense and the characteristic colours of historical, Danish buildings in #9 Ribe and #10 Svaneke.

The pictures of yarn swatches are inspiration that give you a clear indication of the colour scheme. The shown yarn balls are main colours. The pictures don't show what the project actually looks like - they are inspiration for your colour choice.

Presentation of knitwear designer Ruth Soerensen
Fair Isle is one of the Shetland islands and is famous for the colour knitting technique. Ruth Soerensen designs knitwear within the fair Isle tradition, which means it's not just 'stranded knitting', but also with a strong regard to colour combinations, symbols and a certain variation throughout the pattern.

    Washing instructions for your knitwear
Wool can last for years, but it requires good care. Washing is tough on your woolen garments and in general wool needs to be washed much less than other materials as it has a self-cleaning effect. Often it is enough to hang your woolen sweater / garment outside in the humid weather or bring it with you into the bathroom, when you take a long, hot shower - the steam will often be enough to freshen it up it and remove any unwanted odors.

Specifically for knitwear knitted in Önling's Everyday Kit
Neither Önling No 12 nor No 13, is pre-washed when you receive it on cones. You get the best result if you soak your finished knitted garment in lukewarm water for approx. 2 hours. Then wash the garment as you would otherwise with washing detergent for wool, either by hand or on a wool program in your washing machine. Dry it by laying it flat.

Specifically for knitwear knitted in Önling's Silk kit
As the Silk Kit from Önling contains 3 different qualities (linen, wool and silk), we recommend that you always wash your silk sweater / garment by hand, to avoid it changing shape or appearance during wash. The three qualities will react differently to water, temperatures, etc. Önling can not take responsibility for the result if you wash your silk sweater in the washing machine. Your garment made from the silk kit should NOT be spun or tumble dried. Instead, dry it by laying it flat.

We demand a lot from our yarn

We sell yarn under our own label - yarn that is produced in a family-run yarn mill in Italy. The yarn is produced according to organic standards and can be traced back to the individual sheep on the specific field, to ensure the welfare of the animals.
